The Namespace Management screens allow you to edit all of the settings for each namespace that you own. Different options are available depending on whether the namespace is a Host or a Zone.
At the top of the Namespace Management screen, the name of the namespace you are editing is displayed, followed by the ID number of the namespace in brackets. Below that, the page is divided into three sections:
This section displays general information that affects the entire namespace. When you are done editing settings in the "General Information" area, click on the "Save" button, found at the bottom of this box. Here is a list of all of the fields you may see in the "General Information" area:
This section lists each RR record within the namespace. RR records hold IP Address (A), Mail Exchanger (MX), Host Alias (CNAME), and other information about the namespace. Clicking on the "#", "Name", "Type", or "Data" headings will sort the listing by that column. Clicking on the ID# or name for a RR record will open up a RR Management screen for that individual record.
The Primary A and Wildcard A records will be signified on the list in the "Type" column. Beside the actual type, a "(P)" will be dispalyed in bold.
If you wish to add another RR Record to your namespace, fill in the following information in the "Create a new RR Record" box at the bottom of the Namespace Management screen, then click on "Create":
The type of RR record you wish to create:
The type of information you place in here depends on what type of RR record you are creating;
This field is only relevant if you have multiple RR Records of the same type in one namespace. It specifies the priority for these records. The record with the lowest "Aux" value is considered "most important". For example, if you have two MX records, one with an Aux value of "10" and the other with an Aux value of "20", the one with an Aux of "10" is considered the primary SMTP server, and the one with an Aux of "20", the secondary.
If you set this to "No", you will create a regular host record. If you set this to "Yes", you will create a "Wildcard" record instead.
Wildcard records supply information when a request is made for any host within the namespace; for instance, if you created a wildcard A RR Record for the namespace hostname.yi.org, anybody that tried to connect to www.hostname.yi.org, bob.hostname.yi.org, or bleah.hostname.yi.org would instead be connected to the IP address in that wildcard record.
Once you create your new RR record by clicking on "Create", you will be forwarded to a RR Management screen where you can view and edit the settings of your newly created record further.
